: A scarce black proof print ("Schwarzdruk") of the postage stamp issued by Austria Post in 2016. It has full original gum, and is in
never hinged (unmounted) mint
condition.
Wolfgang Denzel, an Austrian race car driver, began assembling these cars from wrecked Volkswagen Beetles he found in Europe after World War II. The 2-door coupé had a rear-mounted 1.3 liter 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual gearbox, capable of 110mph (177km/h).
The "Super 1300" was produced from 1953 to 1957, and competed with Porsche, and similar European cars of that era. In 1957, the Company changed its name from "WD" to "DENZEL", but retained its white-on-red badge.
